Professor Zhang, who has a Ph.D. in Psychology, is particularly interested in social emotion and collective behavior, emotion and communication, decision-making emotions, and images in media. His research has been supported by the National Social Science Fund, the SASS Innovation Project, the Shanghai Shuguang Talent Project, the K. C. Wong Education Foundation of the British Academy, and the Elite Program of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has published widely in a variety of journals, including The Journal of Cognition and Culture, The Journal of Modern Communication, The Journal of Psychological Science, Acta Psychologica Sinica, and Applied Cognitive Psychology.
